Brand New Yoga Classes Starting 29/04/19

Downward Dog headerAs promised, I’m delighted to announce the launch of my brand new yoga classes which start on Monday, 29th April.

The quick facts:

Where: Cubbington CE Primary School, Church Hill, Cubbington, Leamington Spa CV32 7JY

When: Mondays at 7.45pm – 9.15pm (right after Zumba)

Cost: £8 per class

Booking: Is required initially as the interest has been very high. Please register your interest using the contact form saying which date you’d like to come. Thank you.

What you need: If you have one, bring a yoga blanket, or an old, large bath towel will do.I have a small quantity of mats, belts, blocks and bolsters to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis. You might like, and would be totally welcome to bring your own mats/props if you have them.

The detail:

In this weekly class we will use a variety of yoga styles and techniques to achieve a sense of well-being, calmness, balance, health, strength, flexibility, mobility and control. Using a solid foundation of alignment principles and technical precision found in Iyengar yoga, we’ll explore static postures (asanas), fluid movement with breath in the form of vinyasa flows, gentleness from Hatha practices, sun salutations to awaken the body and breath, restorative exercises to soothe, heal and calm, yin style yoga practice to help with flexibility of the more stubborn connective tissues, mindfulness to slow us down and bring us into the present, pranayama (breathing exercises) to regulate the breath and meditation practice to become better at understanding our “monkey mind”.

Each week will see a different intention, theme or focus so that we may explore and get to know ourselves better through yoga. Sometimes we’ll work with the elements, seasons, nature and doshas to ignite, stimulate, calm, learn and release anything we no longer need in our minds and bodies. At other times we might find freedom through play and exploration. Ultimately, my overall goal is to create the right circumstances for your mind and body to heal themselves and for you to enjoy your body.

Suitable for all abilities
Along the way there will be plenty of support from me to provide any options or modifications you may need, so you can experience the best expression of each pose for your body on any given day using props; belts, blocks, and bolsters. This will ensure you are perfectly comfortable, feeling at ease in every pose, and getting the most out of it for YOU.

What to bring
Everyone needs to bring a yoga blanket or old, large bath towel to use as an aid and to provide more comfort. I have a small quantity of mats, belts, blocks and bolsters to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis. You might like, and would be totally welcome to bring your own mats/props if you have them.

Props can be purchased for “keeps”, please let me know if you are interested. Prices are as follows:

- Organic buckwheat filled bolster: £30
– Pair of foam blocks: £8
– Yoga strap/belt: 1.8m £6 / 2.5m £8

New stock can be ordered from time to time.

About me
I’ve been physical my whole life, starting as a kid, joining every school sports club there was. I went on to become a professional dancer and haven’t really stopped moving since I can remember. After retiring from dancing, I realised that I was attending the gym as often as the instructor so figured I should get qualified and try my hand at being the instructor. Plus, there was the bonus of all that extra room in the very front row! I enrolled on my first course and the rest as they say, is history! Curious and always seeking more knowledge, the last decade has seen me add several more qualifications to the list including Les Mills BODYBALANCE, BODYJAM, Sh’Bam and BODYPUMP, Level 3 Personal Training, Level 3 Mat Pilates, Step, Aerobics, Dance Fitness, (Zumba), STRONG by Zumba, Weight Training, a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo (World Taekwondo Federation), Blue Belt in Hapkido, training in Wu Shu Kung Fu and of course Yoga as well as a few other certifications to the ever-growing list.

I’m also extremely proud to be a National Presenter, Trainer and Assessor for Les Mills UK (the people that brought us BODYPUMP, BODYCOMBAT and so on), which sees me travelling all over the place to train other people how to become instructors.

All of this experience and knowledge enables me to teach from a place of deep understanding, and it’s surprising how often one discipline can help you achieve clarity in another. It also means that my classes will have a little something different due to this melting pot of passions!
