Almost a week has passed since returning from the stunningly beautiful and at times, breath-taking landscape of Andalusia in southern Spain, where I took a group of lovely ladies for a yoga holiday.
The week flew past and saw us fall into a relaxed routine of morning meditation class, followed by yoga, a late but welcome breakfast, free-time to swim, sunbathe, take a massage, go exploring or visit nearby sites of interest before evening yoga, followed by a scrumptious organic dinner.

The retreat centre, Suryalila was incredible, purpose-built and lacking in nothing. Accommodation ranged from staying in the traditional Spanish white houses or venturing into one of the yurts or glamping tents. Wherever you were you were assured a bed of tranquility as there was nothing immediately nearby. They had three shalas, including the magnificent Om Dome, also purpose built which is unlike any place I have ever taught in. The views from the window were dreamy and the magic of the place just fuelled the feel-good factor. They also had an incredible sound and lighting system, which put many big name gyms I have been to to shame, as well as tons of all the props you could ever need. I was in awe!

Part of the reason for choosing this place was the surrounding landscapes, vistas too big to take in and almost too big for the pano shots on the phone. Nearby places such as Ronda were fantastic to visit too, and they were certainly not without some incredible photo opportunities, though really, you can’t appreciate the vastness of it all on photo, you have to visit!

The good news is that I’m a guest teacher at a different retreat in March, which is within the same area of Andalusia, so if you’re feeling a pang of FOMO from seeing the photos here, do not despair! Come and stay with us at Lucia Yoga from 35 – 30 March, 2020. The early bird pricing ends in October so be sure to bag your 150 Euro discount ASAP! There’s a further discount for friends who book together. Read all the information at: https://www.luciayoga.com/yoga-retreat-with-sam-russell/
